Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of that year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, including in that event in the past months.

The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a decider.

He saved 4 initial opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian broke to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he clinched the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
